Rotary rides foor mental health

To celebrate the work done by Australian Rotary Health in mental health research and to join
in their ‘Lift the Lid for mental health’ campaign, our club held two events.
The first was a gold coin donation for wearing a hat at our meeting. Several Rotarians
brought hats and told stories about them.
The second was a Bike Ride for Mental Health along the beautiful Gippsland Plains Rail Trail
from Stratford To Maffra.
The ride is suitable for families as well as experienced riders. Several families joined us that
day with children, on their own bikes or riding along with a parent. We also had a three-
wheeler and a lovely motor assisted 4 wheeler. We were lucky enough to have a beautiful,
perfect bike-riding day - sunny but not too hot, and very little breeze.
The ride started at 10am on Sunday October 18th at APEX Park Stratford. The riders went at
their own pace along the Gippsland Rail Trail to the Maffra/Sale Roundabout and on to
Macalister River Park on McMahon Drive, Maffra. The Maffra Scouting Group were there
ready to serve the riders with sausages, dim sims, sandwiches and an assortment of sweet
treats and cold drinks.
100% of the money raised will go to Australian Rotary Health, so thank you to all those who
came and supported the ride. Together with the proceeds of the raffle the Rotary Club of
Maffra is sending $1000 to aid research into mental health. A great result from a lovely,
enjoyable, day. Join us next year!
